The APPA’s have been hosted by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) annually since 1976, and is Australia’s largest and most prestigious awards for professional print photography.
I’ve never entered any kind of awards event, but I decided to enter the awards with 3 ski photos in the sports category, and 1 in the commercial category.
I was able to attend the awards held in Melbourne in late August, and I got to watch my images being judged and discussed by some of the best and most well-known photographers from around Australia and from overseas. These awards are judged critically, as the images that receive awards are supposed to be the pinnacle of professional photography in Australia.
I was thrilled to receive 2 silver awards out of the 4 images I entered. The 2 others were just shy of the awards, needing 2 more points out of 100 to reach the awards level.
After about 15 years of photography, this is my proudest achievement.
